Overview

Working closely with the Program Manager, Program Assistant, and ECS faculty, the ECS Cohort Assistant is tasked with building a strong cohort community for ECS.

Required Duties

Serve as support for the ECS program, tasked with the following: 

  1. cultivate a strong cohort community by developing communications plans for and among students;
  2. coordinate social events and activities; 
  3. coordinate events, and activities that bring current students and alumni together; 
  4. participate in occasional on campus or virtual recruitment events; and
  5. other special projects as needed. 

Preferred Qualification and Essential Skills

ELIGIBILITY

Only students accepted to the Master's Program in Education, Culture, and Society at the Graduate School of Education will be considered.  Undergraduate students and students in other programs are not eligible and will not be considered.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Maturity, reliability and strong discretion on sensitive matters. Ability to serve as an ambassador for the ECS community.
  • Exceptional communicative abilities, strong, succinct writer with solid public speaking skills. 
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to multitask.
  • Comfortable listening to our community and acting in a leadership capacity. Must be personable, engaging and tech savvy.
  • Living close to campus and knowledge of Philadelphia are a plus.

Eligible applicants should submit their resume and a cover letter through the ECS Graduate Assistantship Submission Form. Interviews will take place over the summer and offers will be made before the Fall semester.  Strong preference will be given to ECS applicants.

What are some ideas you have for building a strong, inclusive community and cohort? It can be helpful to think about both potential paths for face-to-face or remote activities. What do you hope to get out of this experience?
