Overview
The Associate Director for Community Care is part of the University Life division and helps members of the Penn community thrive by facilitating the co-creation of a campus environment that is safe, inclusive, and caring. Current programs include event registration, which is the process through which student organizations register social events they plan to host on campus, off campus, or at a third-party venue. Event registration promotes safe social environments within our community; it is a process to help manage risk, reduce harm, and look out for one another. Event Observers—part-time, temporary staff within University Life who provide on-the-ground support during social events—are a key component of this effort.
The Graduate Assistant (GA) for Community Care reports to and collaborates with the Associate Director to support current programs. The GA is responsible for the day-to-day administrative management of event registration, which includes collecting and organizing registrations from student groups, coordinating bartending and security staff for events, and keeping various campus stakeholders up to date with the latest information. The GA also supports the Associate Director with the weekly scheduling of Event Observers and other related tasks.
