Overview
Penn Carey Law is one of the oldest and most distinguished law schools in the United States. The GSE JD Admissions and Financial Aid Intern will do a variety of projects within the department in support of the JD Admissions and Financial Aid Office. The Intern will have the opportunity to participate in most facets of the admissions and financial aid process as a valued contributing member of the JD Admissions and Financial Aid team.
Assistantship Environment
University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School is a collaborative and supportive community for both students and staff alike. As part of the JD Admissions and Financial Aid team, the GSE Intern will join twelve full-time professionals and two seasonal worker in a dynamic, collegial, fast-paced team environment. In addition, the GSE Intern is welcome to participate in all events as a member of the Law School community, including but not limited to, staff professional development workshops and guest lectures. Additional Notes
- Hours can be established at the Intern’s convenience during the semesters based on class and study schedule. Available hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
- Intern can begin position as early as in the weeks of August. There is a preference for the Intern to begin work no later than August 18th.
- The position will be in-office for the fall semester with the possibility of hybrid work in the spring semester. This will depend on office needs.
- Intern cannot have an interest in applying to law school.

Required Duties
- Answer a wide array of questions via email, phone, and in-person (when available) visits from applicants, admitted students, and current students, in the JD Admissions and Financial Aid Office.
- Complete various special projects for Directors, the Assistant Dean of JD Admissions, and the Associate Dean of Financial Aid.
- Assist with the Post-Acceptance recruitment process.
- Assist with the processing of applications.
- Other projects as assigned.
Preferred Qualification and Essential Skills
- Flexibility and initiative; self-starter.
- Strong commitment to a service environment.
- Knowledge of Microsoft environment (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word).
