Academic Year (Fall - Spring)

Work Hours and Commitment:
10-20 hours/week. Some hours will occur during business hours and work that can be done independently can be completed after hours if desired. This position is eligible for a remote work agreement (100% telework) or hybrid schedule.

Pay Rate:
$20.00/hr

Overview

This position reports to the Administrative Director of NPL as well as the Associate Director of NPL and will work with the entire NPL team.  The three primary areas of focus for this position will be

  1. Admissions and recruitment, especially through social media and email communications
  2. Planning and organizing co-curricular events for students with alumni, community partners, and faculty
  3. Assisting with data collection through surveys and other measurement tools for program evaluation and improvement purposes.

Beyond the assigned projects and tasks, this position is flexible and can be tailored to meet the interests of the GA. The GA will have the opportunity to propose, design, and implement relevant projects of their choosing with support from the team.  Example areas of focus may include student affairs, event planning, instructional design, program evaluation and measurement, graphic design, and knowledge management. There will also be opportunities for mentorship and career development through this position.

Required Duties

Marketing and recruitment:

  • Social media design, content creation, and posting for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Youtube
  • Managing social media account inboxes 
  • Resharing partner organization posts, campus partner posts, and other relevant content related to the social impact sector
  • Coordinating and creating video, photography, and advertising
  • Planning and staffing online and in-person recruitment events

Student Affairs:

  • Supporting a variety of student life programs including academic/professional development events and social functions in coordination with NPL staff and campus partners
  • Encouraging ongoing virtual engagement with current NPL students by initiating Instagram takeovers and other mechanisms for engagement 

Data collection

  • Creating surveys for current and former students on desired events and skill-building
  • Evaluating NPL student life events and propose improvements
  • Tracking social media metrics and provide monthly analytics
  • Assist in developing other measurement techniques and in increasing response rates

Alumni Engagement

  • Assist with alumni outreach efforts
  • Developing creative strategies to encourage alumni engagement
  • Managing alumni and faculty social media spotlight initiatives 

Community Partner Engagement

  • Assist with practicum partner outreach efforts
  • Support event logistics for virtual events

Propose additional projects and assist the team on additional projects as needed

Preferred Qualification and Essential Skills

  • Interest in higher education marketing, academic affairs, and student affairs
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with various departments, stakeholders, instructors, and students
  • Time management and organization skills to handle multiple projects at once with relative independence
  • Creativity, innovation, and openness to new ideas
  • Energy, enthusiasm, and passion for social impact/social justice
  • Graphic design, marketing, social media management experience appreciated
