Overview
The Master of Science in Social Policy is a graduate program at the Penn School of Social Policy & Practice. Our program is designed to empower social justice-oriented policy professionals who possess a critical eye towards data use and analysis in creating meaningful and enduring change in areas of health, housing, education, immigration, climate change, and beyond. The MSSP Graduate Assistant would support program staff with internship management, programming, and benchmarking research.
We are looking for a graduate assistant with a solid understanding of the higher education landscape, who would like to apply that knowledge to helping MSSP develop an outstanding internship program for our graduate students. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, ideally have some experience working with databases, and able to work with multiple stakeholders. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who plans to work in higher education to gain real-world experience in benchmarking research, which is a key tool for program decision-making at universities.

Required Duties
- Database and forms management: Help manage internship data in the SP2 SONIA internship database; develop and disseminate forms/questionnaires to students and prospective internship partners.
- Research: Produce benchmarking reports on policy and internship programs.
- Course support: Assist Internship Coordinator in maintaining and updating the internship course Canvas page.
- Outreach: Assist Internship Coordinator in outreach to new internship partners.
- Site visits: Coordinate internship site visits for Internship Coordinator. There may be an option to join the Internship Coordinator at some site visits.
- Communications: Help publicize internship and career planning events, design event flyers using Canva, liaise with MSSP alumni.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualification and Essential Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel. Some experience with Canvas/Blackboard and databases, esp. SONIA, is preferred.
